Situated in the southeast of Europe, in the center of the Balkans, Serbia has various breathtaking drives, including scenic asphalt routes and mountain roads. Rich in natural wonders and history, the Ibar Highway, a paved route that connects Belgrade to western Serbia and then to Montenegro, and the paved balcony road along the Jerma River Canyon in the Pirot District are not to be missed. It was given the sinister nickname “Black Highway.”
You cannot avoid the international roads to Pančić’s Peak, which is 2,017 meters (6,617 feet) above sea level and on the border with Kosovo, or Midžor, which is 2,142 meters (7,027 feet) above sea level and on the border with Bulgaria, if you are willing to drive on unpaved mountain roads. Jankov Kamen is a mountain peak located in the southwest of the country at 1,833 meters (6,013 feet) above sea level.
